The Torch Doha – member of Leading Hotels of the World joins the Earth Hour 2014 by switching off its exterior lights from 8.30PM – 9.30PM on March 29th.
The highest building in Qatar will be saving 200 KW equivalent to 200 000 Watt by switching off a total of 3780 LED lights.
THREE SIXTY revolving restaurant and Torch Tea Garden will serve food and signature mocktails at candle light. Non-essential lights around the public areas will be switched off.
Digital screens inside and outside the hotel feature the Torch participation at Earth Hour 2014, to create awareness for staff members and guests about sustainability and energy saving in Qatar.
“We are thrilled to join the Earth Hour initiative for the third consecutive year, and raise awareness to take action against climate change. Our energy saving efforts are not limited to this event and we encourage everyone to show concern for the environment” says Hotel Manager, Sherif Sabry.
Other initiatives in place at the Torch encouraging sustainability and energy-saving are: relying on natural daylight in Madar meeting room, Flying Carpet and Three Sixty restaurants; reducing AC temperature in public areas during cold season; using Digital Signage in public areas, though reducing the quantity of printed material for the hotel; saving energy, water & detergent by placing information cards inside guest rooms concerning towel washing and more
