Alain Robert the French Spiderman to climb The Torch Doha …
The legendary Alain Robert, a French skyscraper climber nicknamed "The Spiderman", will climb The Torch Doha Hotel Tower for the first time on April 12th 2012. Robert is currently preparing for the ascent and will scale Doha's highest building without a safety rope and harness.
As he performs the unique climb of Doha's iconic 300m tower - The Torch Hotel - Guinness Book of Records will be present at the exciting event. Additionally, Alain Robert's production team will be shooting the Torch ascent as part of Alain's life documentary in 3D, planned to be broadcasted as a movie in cinemas around the globe.
An area will be established so that spectators can watch this amazing feat which will start at 4pm.
This once-in-a-lifetime event is being organized in collaboration with Aspire Zone Foundation.
Alain declared: "I feel like a child and I finally want to open my present: I want to climb The Torch."
Robert has scaled over 85 giant structures around the globe, most of which he has ascended using only with his bare hands and climbing shoes.
Well-known for climbing unassisted, the 50-year-old has conquered more than 70 skyscrapers - pioneering attempts of such kind - including the Empire State Building, Chicago's Willis Tower, and the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur.
He conquered Taiwan's Taipei 101 and in February 2003, he legally climbed the 200m (656 ft) National Bank of Abu Dhabi, UAE, with an audience of approximately 100,000 individuals. Last year Robert climbed the iconic Burj Khalifa - the highest structure in the world - in 6 hours, 14 minutes and 55 seconds watched by thousands of spectators.

Now Alain Robert is ready to continue his series of solo ascents without a safety rope and harness and climb Doha's iconic landmark - The Torch. The event is expected to attract thousands of spectators around Aspire Zone to watch Alain's new record-breaking attempt.
Alain's climb will be internationally broadcasted and feature in a movie production telling the story of an extraordinary human adventure.
